Thoughts on binary sims

where

Start with the assumption that

t_0=t

|v|=v_w

DO

d = |\vec{x}-\vec{X}_p(t_r)|

t_r=t-\frac{d}{v_w}

\sin {q} =\frac{|x|}{d}\sin{(\Omega t_r+\alpha)}

|v|=v_w-R_p \Omega \sin{q}

END DO

\sin {\eta} = \frac{R_p}{d}\sin{(\Omega t_r+\alpha)}

If we switch to a rotating frame that rotates counter to the orbit so the angular speed is \Omega, then

\vec{v}_r=\vec{v}-\Omega \times \vec{x}

and

\alpha=\alpha_0+\Omega t

so that

\Omega t_r+\alpha = \alpha_0 - \Omega \frac{d}{v_w}
