New Work

  1. Drag force/secondary mass paper:
    1. Movies showing contours of component of force per unit volume exerted on secondary…
      1. along direction
      2. along direction of (=drag if net force is negative and =thrust if net force is positive)

Movies

Movies are in the frame of reference co-orbiting with the particles, with the secondary at the center.

Future work to improve the above movies

  1. Add vector to show direction of force exerted on particle 2 by the gas .
  2. Add vector to show -component of force exerted on particle 2 by the gas .
  3. Add vector to show direction of velocity of particle 2 with respect to particle 1 .
  4. Add vector to show ()-component of force exerted on particle 2 by the gas .

(adding these is somewhat non-trivial in VisIt so haven't quite gotten to it yet.)
