PN Stuff

In the PN stuff the wind and jet temperature are << shock temperature - which can cause feedback at the spherical boundary… Here is an image of the same run with an outflow and a jet in which the temperatures were changed from 1000 to 10000K. The shock temperatures are ~ 100000K

Nice lemon! These match well with previous papers *Garcia-Segura)

So, the finger-looking features that we found in Ruka's earlier runs may have been caused by cooling.

Scratch that… cooling or spurious temperatures? Please extend on "feedback at the spherical boundary".

I suspect the flow across the circular launch boundary is not supersonic… ie - if you were to look at the riemann problem for the cells along the boundary - some energy would travel back into the circular launch region and increase the temperature… However - when the zones are stepped on - this energy is lost - and the degree to which it is lost depends on where you are on the boundary which I think is why we see more pronounced striations coming off the boundary on the left - when the temperature is lower. By raising the temperature - it increases the speed of the slowest wave speed and hopefully makes all wave speeds > 0… so the values in the ghost zones are completely independent of the values in the grid… Some of this is conjecture - but raising the temperature of the launch region does not 'hurt' as long as the flow is still highly supersonic.
